About
Prof.
(Dr.) Rakhi Agarwal is a Professor of Forensic Science at National Forensic
Sciences University (NFSU), Jaipur Campus. A distinguished Forensic Chemist and
Toxicologist, she brings over 22 years of experience in research, teaching, and
academic leadership.
She
completed her M.Sc. in Forensic Science from Agra University in 2003 and earned
her Ph.D. in Toxicology in 2008 through a joint program between CSIR-Indian
Institute of Toxicology Research and Jamia Hamdard. She qualified for the
UGC-NET JRF/SRF (2004/2006) and was subsequently awarded the CSIR Research
Associateship in 2009 for postdoctoral research.
Prof.
Agarwal has been serving NFSU (erstwhile GFSU) since July 2009. She held the
position of Dean Academics (I/c) at the NFSU Delhi Campus from June 2022 to
September 2025, where she contributed significantly to academic planning,
faculty development, and student mentorship.
Her
academic contributions include 35 publications in peer-reviewed national and
international journals, 4 patents, 5 book chapters, and 2 scientific articles.
She is currently serving as co-editor for three forthcoming books with
proposals accepted by leading international publishers such as Springer Nature
and CRC Press, all presently in the writing phase.
In
the course of her academic career, she has successfully supervised 5 Ph.D.
scholars, while 9 research fellows are currently pursuing doctoral studies
under her guidance. She has also mentored over 150 dissertation students from
India and abroad. Additionally, she has played a key role in developing
academic curricula for M.Sc. Toxicology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic
Toxicology.
Prof.
Agarwal actively contributes as a subject matter expert for various public and
private institutions, including roles in examination paper setting and
interview panel boards. She also serves as a reviewer for reputed journals,
including those published by Elsevier, and provides consultancy services to
insurance and pharmaceutical sectors.
Her
research interests focus on analytical and mechanistic toxicology of
environmental toxicants, their assessment across diverse matrices using
advanced instrumentation, and exploring preventive strategies using novel model
organisms such as C. elegans.
She
is the recipient of several prestigious awards, honors, and fellowships. She is
a life member of multiple professional bodies in India and a Full Member of the
Society of Toxicology. She served as an Executive Member of the Society of
Toxicology, India (2012–2018), was selected as an Associate Member (Toxicology)
of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences in 2020, and was elected Fellow of
the Society of Toxicology (STOX), India, in 2023.
