About Program

M. Phil Forensic Psychology Program is an initiative of National Forensic Sciences University to prepare expert in the field of Forensic Psychology. The structure of syllabus is designed to address the issue related with crime and justice along with providing the holistic information about the psychological as well as societal challenges for forensic psychology experts. This program will be a professional course, with an extensive hands-on experience, which will enable a student to practice anywhere in a Forensic setup. It will be more focussed on practical training in the form of Clinical and Forensic Internship and Laboratory Procedures (comprising of Investigative techniques like for instance Polygraph, Layered Voice Analysis, Brain Electrical Oscillation Signature, Suspect Detection System, EEG/ERP). The student will build up strong Clinical foundation followed with an understanding of Psychopathology and its significance in the area of Forensic arena.

The aim of this course will be to impart basic knowledge about Forensic Psychology and its role in the field of Criminal Justice System and society. Also the program aims to develop an understanding of Psychological and societal aspects of offending behaviour and the possible role of technology in it. The program will comprise of in-depth knowledge about the assessment of possible antecedents of offending and investigative techniques of crime and understanding the role of Indian Justice System in Forensic Investigation. LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the completion of this program students will be able to carry out investigation in different forensic setup. Students will acquire skills to learn working with both offender and victim population. With extensive exposure to Hospital Setting, Forensic Investigative Tools and Community Visits/Internship at Correctional/Observation Homes/Centres, students will be able to render services in rehabilitation setup also.

Eligibility Criteria

M.A./M. Sc. in Psychology with minimum 55% marks or equivalent. (50% for SC/ST)

After completion of this program students will be ready to serve in any Forensic set-up without any pre-placement training. These forensic setups will include, but not limited to, Central & State Forensic Science Laboratories, Industry, Corporate and Academia.
