Food safety has remained a global priority issue for every country. Food adulteration, Food contamination, Food product counterfeiting, Food poisoning and Food Crime, Damage to Food product related intellectual property rights arekey concern for entire food sector and consumers. Gujarat Forensic Sciences University has established Food Testing and Research infrastructure to tackle all the mentioned food safety issues. Day by day every FMCG companies and specialized food and agro industries need experts who can deal with supply chain protection and validation, product quality safeguard systems, counterfeitingidentification and mitigation strategies establishment.
The specially designed curriculum for this unique program is specific to investigative approach where first basic knowledge of general science and food sciences provides added advantage to the enrolling candidates. Apart from forensic food analysis, the enrolled students also get knowledge of advanced technologies, upcoming trends of food and nutraceutical industries. Since inception of this program, every year GFSU is making progress with this program to newer heights, new research, new collaborations, and new applications in this specialized domain.

The students of this program get direct experience of all vigilance and testing activities being performed by Food Research Laboratory (A joint center established by Civil Supply department-Gujarat State and Directorate of Forensic Sciences-Gujarat state). Moreover, strong outreach to various apex bodies like state FDA, FSSAI, APEDA, EIA etc makes our students sharp and knowledgeable in their specialization.

Our students are currently working in various department of food industries like production, quality assurance, quality control and regulatory affairs, food forensic department of state FSL, market research companies, public and private food testing laboratories located in India and overseas.
Many of our alumni are also pursuing further higher studies in renowned international universities. Our students also endeavour entrepreneurship in food sector through university support and government start-up schemes.
