The Master of Science in Geo-informatics at NFSU is a two-year interdisciplinary program designed for students interested in developing expertise in and applying geospatial technologies to solve the world's most pressing real-world challenges in domains such as forensic, criminology, internal security, and defence applications.
With the increasing use of digital technologies in forensic sciences, the context of location is becoming increasingly crucial in investigative and legal processes. Geospatial technologies have played a significant role in forensics and cybersecurity worldwide. Ge-spatial technologies can help improve precision and efficiencies while strengthening the Indian forensics ecosystem. GIS technologies can play a critical role in improving event situational awareness by aggregating, fusing, processing, and integrating various types of data and systems in a single environment. Spatial analytics facilitate comprehensive assessment of situations with actionable intelligence and generate evidence that is backed up with diligence by providing a bird's eye view as well as the ability to drill down to details with spatial and temporal perspectives. One of the ecosystem's challenges is a lack of qualified and trained resources capable of harnessing the power of geospatial technologies.
Spatial modelling and predictive analysis provide accurate assessments of scenarios, geographic spread, hot spots, priority areas, intervention appropriateness and efficacy. Intuitive spatial visualizations, sharing and collaboration, and anywhere, anytime access to required information enable seamless intra and inter-sectoral interactions between various levels of forensic administration. Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality, IoT, and other technologies can transform the core of forensics practices through contextualized data visualization, analytics, and meaningful insights.
The course is designed to provide students with both basic and advanced knowledge. Focuses on some of the most important institutional and national issues. The curriculum is designed to meet the most recent international standards and can attract both Indian and international students. The program will heavily involve industry experts to meet the immediate needs that arise because of rapid technological advancements in the field.
The course is designed to be a mix of hands-on exercises and lectures. Students who complete the courses are capable of making a mark in the geospatial industry, but they are also capable of contributing to the initiatives and requirements of various ministries in the GOI, primarily in the forensics and security domains.

Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, agriculture, atmospheric science, Computer Application, Remote Sensing and GIS, Electronics, Architecture, or any other related science/engineering degree is required with a minimum of 50% for General/OBC(NCL)/EWS category candidates, and 45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
