Due to development of high-risk industries and increase in numbers of industrial mishaps, there is growing demand for skills and expertise in this field. At a time, there is need to develop forensic investigative approach to prevent such mishaps by creating expertise. The academic program of post-graduation diploma for Industrial Safety, Hygiene and Environmental Management with specialization Forensic Incidence Investigation is aimed to develop human resources which are of global competence and having capability for dealing with complex health, safety, and environmental problem of high-risk industries.
In India, Industrial safety, Hygiene and Environmental Management governed by various legislature mainly The Factories Act 1948 and state factory rules of respective states, The Environment Protection Act, 1986 and rules under the act, The Manufacture, Storage, and Import of Hazardous Chemical Rules, 1989, Chemical Accidents (Emergency Planning, Preparedness and Response) Rules, 1996 etc. and other international legislation. In this academic program emphasis provided for forensic incidence investigations with respect to violation of provisions of above-mentioned legislations/guidelines as well as international standards/regulations. Students of this diploma program will be trained for legislation related to industrial safety, hazard identification, risk assessment and implementation of risk management techniques, safety management and safety engineering, advanced safety technology, safety issues of different high risk industries and its management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, construction safety, safety implication of hazardous chemical storage and transportation, industrial waste management, environmental impact assessment, process safety in chemical engineering etc.
1 Year (2 Semesters)
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of science with minimum 50% or equivalent marks (For reserved category students minimum of 45% marks) with one-year relevant experience or Postgraduate degree in any branch of science or engineering and technology with minimum 50% marks. (45 % or equivalent marks for SC/ST and PwD category)

As per Factory Act 1948 Sec.40 B it is made mandatory to appoint Safety Officer in every Factory where One thousand or more workers are ordinarily employed or any workplace where in the opinion of government operation is carried out which having risk. Thus, Industrial Safety, hygiene and environmental management is a growing field in India and abroad and having extremely good career with ample career prospects.

Some of them are safety supervisor, environment safety manager, safety instructor, safety officer, risk management consultant, industrial hygienist and safety auditors, occupational safety and environmental health consultant, industrial hygiene manager, safety specialist/ occupational health and safety specialist, environment, health and safety specialist etc. Industrial safety, hygiene and environment management is one of the high-paid jobs in India. Salary for safety professionals differs by organisations and candidate experience level which increase cumulatively with experience.
