About Program

This program is mainly aimed at creating the professional nurses to gain expertise in the areas of medico legal approaches in cases of abuses against women and children. These specialist nurses are capable of providing clinical/ medical care to the victims of abuses (physical / mental and sexual). They are also able to ensuring / provide psychological wellbeing in addition to the physical wellness as they had been subjected to physical and emotional trauma due to unfortunate / fateful events or conditions. They are capable of collecting the evidences (including body fluids and other physical / scientific evidences from the victims of physical/ sexual abuses for the purpose of early/ proper justice administration which is a due for the affected individuals.

They are also able to provide scientific assistance in the cases of disasters by way of providing clinical and psychological care to the victims, assisting the experts in identifying the dead victims.

They are also capable of assisting the medical officers in the medico legal cases of any kind including the postmortem examination.

1 Year (2 Semesters)

 

Eligibility Criteria

B.Sc Nursing with 55% marks from any institution recognized by the INC (Indian Nursing Council) with one year experience in the respective area.

Course Outline

Fundamentals of forensic sciences, objectives, need and scope , Fundamental concepts involved in the abuses / atrocities /offences against women, children and elderly. Remedies through the medico legal approaches, addressing Psycho social issues and providing psychological care to the victims , Disaster victim management ( clinical, forensic and psychological aspects )

 

Placements / Prospects

In the process of reaching out to the government for the purpose of getting them placed in the hospital setups under the government.
