To commemorate the 'International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking', a program was organized at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, under the theme “Youth for Change, Science for Justice” on 25th June 2026. The program was presided over by Padma Shri awardee and NFSU Vice Chancellor, Dr. J.M. Vyas. Among the dignitaries present on stage were Mr. Sunil Joshi, IPS, DIG, ATS‑Ahmedabad; Mr. Manish Kumar, IRS, Deputy Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB); Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU‑Gandhinagar; and Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Choudhary, Campus Director, NFSU‑Goa. The event brought together experts from law enforcement, academia, healthcare, and community organizations to raise awareness among youth about the dangers of drug abuse. Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU, highlighted the visionary mission of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s “Drug‑Free India” campaign, emphasizing that it is not merely an initiative but the very direction of the nation’s future. He described science, education, and community outreach as the backbone of this mission, and reiterated NFSU’s unwavering commitment to taking every step towards making India drug‑free. Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU‑Gandhinagar, emphasized the urgent need for a decisive fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, stating that this struggle is not merely institutional but collective—requiring the active participation of educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and society at large. Mr. Manish Kumar, IRS, Deputy Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), highlighted the emerging challenges posed by drug trafficking networks and stressed the importance of coordinated enforcement, intelligence sharing, and technological interventions in addressing the drug menace. Dr. Aastha Pandey, Dean, School of Forensic Sciences and Head, CoE‑NDPS, NFSU, administered the anti‑drug pledge, reaffirming the collective commitment to drug abuse prevention. The pledge was taken by more than 500 students and dignitaries. The event also featured discussions with NCB Zonal Director Mr. Ketan Baliram, Dr. Yatri Patel, Dr. Twinkle Patel, and other experts from healthcare, forensic science, and law enforcement. Awareness presentations by NCB and Invincible further strengthened outreach efforts among young participants. Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Campus Director, NFSU‑Bhopal, was also present on the occasion. Students from various schools, colleges, and universities participated enthusiastically in the program, reflecting the growing youth engagement in the National Mission against Drug Abuse. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. P. Ajay Soni, Deputy Director, CoE‑NDPS.
